The two sides will have an in-depth exchange of views on bilateral relations and international and regional issues of common concern, the ministry's spokesperson Hua Chunying said.

Hua stressed that the strategic dialogue is an important channel for the two governments to strengthen strategic communication.

This marks a resumption of the bilateral dialogue after seven years.

"The Chinese side hopes to enhance mutual political trust through dialogue and promote the further improvement of China-Japan relations," Hua said.
