BEIJING, Oct. 18 (Xinhua) - An online model for assessing the social and economic impacts of climate change has been launched at the Beijing Institute of Technology, the China Science Daily reported Thursday.

The China's Climate Change Integrated Assessment Model is an open system developed by the institute's Center for Energy and Environmental Research, in collaboration with government departments, research institutions, and universities.

Users on the system can establish databases and simulate future global and regional average temperature changes, GDP losses and the cost of cutting carbon due to climate change.

The model can assess the possible impact of global climate change under different development paths.

According to researchers, assessment outcomes by the model help countries with decision-making in global climate governance.
