China launched new weather observation facilities in the Nansha Islands, China's meteorological administration announced Wednesday.

The new facilities were set up on Zhushu Jiao, Zhubi Jiao and Meiji Jiao, three reefs in the Nansha Islands, including a weather forecast system, aerological observatories and weather radars.

The administration said with the new facilities in place, vessels traveling near the Nansha Islands will have access to more accurate weather forecasts and disaster alert services.
