SUZHOU, China, May 30 (Xinhua) -- China led Guam 2-0 at halftime in their 2022 World Cup Asian qualifier here on Sunday.

Espanyol striker Wu Lei converted a spot-kick to put China 1-0 ahead in the 19th minute before Jin Jingdao slotted home a slick pass from captain Wu Xi.

China will host all the remaining Asian Group A qualifying matches from May 30 to June 15 in Suzhou, where the hosts will face Guam, the Philippines, the Maldives and Syria in succession.

China is currently eight points adrift of group leader Syria and only leads third-placed the Philippines on goal difference.
