Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Xie Feng on Sunday lodged solemn representations with the US Embassy in China over the country's use of force to bring down a Chinese civilian unmanned airship.
Xie said that the civilian airship’s entry into the territorial sky of the US was purely an accident, a fact that should not be twisted. Xie critisized the US for its abuse of force in handling the incident, calling it "overreacting" and a violation of international law and convention.
"China urges the US not to take further action to undermine the interests of China and escalate and increase tension in the situation,” he said. “The Chinese government has been closely watching the developments of the incident, and will resolutely defend legitimate interests of Chinese enterprises. China will also resolutely defend its interests and reverence and reserves its right to take necessary response."
