Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin Wednesday said that China has kept effective communications and negotiations with the Taliban, and Kabul is a key platform and channel for the two sides to discuss important affairs.
Wang made the remarks at a daily news briefing when asked to comment on the meeting between Taliban officials and the Chinese ambassador to Afghanistan in Kabul on July 24.
He said China has always respected Afghanistan's independence and territorial integrity, adhered to non-interference in its internal affairs, and pursued a friendly policy toward all Afghan people.
Noting that China is Afghanistan's largest neighboring country, “China will continue to develop a friendly and cooperative relationship with Afghanistan and hopes to play a constructive role in the peaceful reconstruction of the future Afghanistan,” Wang noted.
