KATHMANDU, Oct. 12 (Xinhua) -- China and Nepal agreed on Saturday to upgrade their relations to a strategic partnership of cooperation featuring ever-lasting friendship for development and prosperity.

The agreement was made when Chinese President Xi Jinping met with Nepali President Bidhya Devi Bhandari here.

Xi arrived in Nepal Saturday for the first state visit by a Chinese president in 23 years.
