China is highly concerned about the incident in Iraq, Geng said, China proposes that all related parties obey the principle and rules of the UN charter as well as the basic rules of international relations.

The sovereignty and territorial integrity of Iraq should be respected, and the peace and stability of the Mideast and Gulf regions should be guarded. China urges all parties, especially the US, to maintain calm and restraint and avoid escalating the situation, Geng said.
