Hua urged Pompeo to recognize his position clearly over Hong Kong affairs, stop making "irresponsible" comments while neglecting the violence that had happened in the protests.

Hua condemned the "disgraceful" role the US played during the recent protests and violent incidents in Hong Kong.

According to her, the US has repeatedly interfered in the amendment work of Hong Kong's fugitive bills in the past half year and publicly voiced its support for the violent protests. Many Americans and American flags have also been noticed in the violent protests in Hong Kong.

The United States owes the world a responsible answer, Hua said, regarding the US role in the recent incidents in Hong Kong.

Hong Kong belongs to China, and its affairs are China's internal affairs, Hua stressed, urging foreign forces to stop interfering in China's internal affairs and stop saying or doing anything that smears the "One Country, Two Systems" and undermines Hong Kong's prosperity and stability.
