Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Zhao Lijian made the remarks at a press briefing in Beijing after US Secretary of State Antony Blinken was quoted as saying NATO allies were concerned by China's coercive policies, disinformation and “rapid, opaque military buildup, including its cooperation with Russia.”

Blinken's remarks distorted "black and white and are full of Cold War mentality and ideological bias,” Zhao said.

"China never engaged in coercion or spread disinformation," Zhao said. "We urge the US to immediately stop its slanderous attacks on China."

The US had a long record of spreading disinformation, the spokesperson noted.

"The US is the initiator and mastermind of coercive diplomacy, who deducing a coercive diplomacy with a series of textbook cases," Zhao said. "It is the US that is using excessive force and stirring up trouble around the world. The US has been at war for all but 16 of its nearly 250 years.”
