China slammed the so-called security concern the US used as tools to thwart tech giant Huawei and China's 5G development on Thursday, arguing that the logic of "whatever made-in-China is risky" is absurd.

When asked about the US announcement that Huawei and ZTE would peril privacy and safety while helping build 5G facilities in Europe, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Hua Chunying called it "ridiculous" and quoted Bill Gates as saying "China should suspend Boeing airplanes with lots of American components."

Multiple investigations of Huawei launched by the EU, UK and Germany proved no backdoor in its sold devices, the spokesman said. The company also expressed willingness to sign no-backdoor treaties with concerned countries and be under tests and monitor from third parties.

We are doubtful whether American firms can make similar statements, the spokesman said, adding that numerous reports previously revealed that big US companies had exposed safety leaks and the government operated massive global tap networks, as the notorious PRISM incident showed.

China called on related countries, based on their own interests, to make independent judgments and uphold fair and indiscriminate principles, while watching out for the US' so-called "safety trap".
