The Chinese Foreign Ministry on Monday expressed regret that no major consensus was reached at the just-concluded UN Climate Summit (COP25), the longest climate talks ever, in Madrid.

The results from the talks in the Spanish capital failed to reach the expectations of the international community although certain resolutions on fully implementing the Kyoto Protocol and Paris Agreement have been made, said Foreign Ministry Spokesman Geng Shuang. "But these outcomes laid the foundation for the next round's practical consensus."

There were no solid commitments to new funding made at the summit.

China urged developed countries to invest extra public capital while improving spending transparency, Geng added, and called for the efforts of those countries to match up with the actions of developing countries.
