BEIJING, Oct. 15 (Xinhua) -- China remains an important anchor of stability and driving force of global economic growth, a spokesperson for the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China said Saturday.

All things considered, China's development still has many favorable conditions, Sun Yeli, spokesperson for the congress, told a press conference.

"The Chinese economy has strong resilience, great potential and robust vitality, and the fundamentals for its long-term positive growth remain unchanged," he said.

Statistics show that China's gross domestic product expanded at an average annual growth rate of 6.6 percent from 2013 to 2021, higher than the average growth pace of 2.6 percent for the global economy and 3.7 percent for developing economies.

The country's average contribution to global economic growth exceeded 30 percent during the 2013-2021 period, according to Sun.

Given the size of the Chinese economy, it was not easy to maintain such a speed of growth during the country's shift to high-quality development, said Sun.

The past decade has seen China's economic development becoming more balanced, coordinated and sustainable, Sun said, adding that the country has scaled new heights in terms of economic, scientific and comprehensive national strength.

China will continue to deepen supply-side structural reform, boost effective demand, ensure food and energy security as well as the stability of industrial and supply chains, keep employment stable, secure people's livelihood and keep the economy operating within an appropriate range, said Sun.
