Beijing (People's Daily) - Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin agreed to promote bilateral ties for greater development at a high level, as the two leaders met at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on Friday. 

Putin is on a state visit to China, and he will also attend the 18th Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in the eastern Chinese coastal city of Qingdao on Saturday and Sunday.

Chinese Vice Premier Han Zheng attended the meeting. Han is also a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee.
