China's Vice Minister of Industry and Information Technology Zhang Yunming said on Sunday that the country's 5G+ industrial internet has entered the fast lane of development.

He made the remarks at the opening of 2022 China 5G+ Industrial Internet Conference in Wuhan, capital of central China's Hubei Province.

The event has gathered academicians, experts, entrepreneurs and representatives of industry associations from across the country to explore innovation avenues and discuss wider integration of 5G technology and industrial internet.

Jointly hosted by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the People's Government of Hubei Province, the conference is scheduled to hold two main forums and more than 20 subforums, plus an exhibition of "5G+ Industrial Internet" achievements.

China has built the world's largest and leading 5G network based on an independent network model, with more than 2.22 million 5G base stations and over 520 million users.

A number of pilot projects involving 5G+ industrial internet are being carried out in industries including automobile, electronics and mining. Over 4,000 projects are under construction nationwide, including a batch of high-quality and fully connected 5G factories.

In addition, efforts have been made to accelerate the application of 5G in sectors such as healthcare, transportation and education, enabling the growth of AI, AR/VR and 8K display technologies as well as new business models, such as the internet of vehicles.
