China's air passenger volume continues to improve in August

China's civil aviation industry continued to see a gradual recovery in August, data from the country's aviation regulator showed Tuesday.

In August, the domestic market saw an accelerated recovery, reporting 45.539 million passenger trips. The monthly volume has recovered to over 80 percent of that of the same period last year, the highest this year. 

Due to the continued impact of COVID-19 overseas, international air passenger flows remained at a low level, with 189,000 passenger trips last month, down 97.3 percent year on year. The average daily air passenger volume was about 6,000.

China's total air cargo volume was 546,000 tons, recovering to 86.7 percent of that of the same period last year. Cargo volume of domestic and international routes resumed to 86.2 percent and 87.8 percent respectively of the level over the same period last year.
