Expanding the demonstration of pilot results, enhancing the transformation from the pilot experience to regional output and accelerating the building up of the big data security system are now top priorities, according to the Economic Information Daily, a Beijing-based newspaper run by Xinhua, on Monday.
“Those who master data will take the initiative and develop with better opportunities,” an industry insider said.
In the backdrop of the new wave of information technology revolution and industrial changes, the trend of economic development by speeding up the deep integration of digital technology and real economy, and fully unleashing the potential of big data is inevitable.
The source who is familiar with the matter also said that the national big data comprehensive pilot zone is expected to expand. Many regions are developing a big data industry, its value chain and applications for a greater market share in the digital economy.
Take East China’s Shandong Province. The region has been focusing on advanced sectors and strong enterprises in Jinan, Qingdao and Yantai to attract cutting-edge technology and strategic investment. Programs in integrated circuits, high-end software and quantum communications have been rolled out and are developing the cloud computing base in the national comprehensive pilot for big data, according to a release at the Shanghai Cooperation Summit in Qingdao.
By 2020, China will build 10-15 big data comprehensive pilot zones while forging several large data industrial agglomeration areas and establish a number of new large data industrialization demonstration bases, according to “The big data industry development plan (2016-2020)" issued by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.
In 2016, China approved the setting up of eight state-level comprehensive experimental zones for big data.
“We should proactively apply technology such as cloud computing, big data and the Internet of Things to build a smart city and digital city,” Cai Qi, a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and secretary of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee, was quoted as saying in the news report.
