China's civil aviation continues to recover as daily flights reach more than 13,000 at the end of August, rebounding to about 90% of pre-pandemic levels, said Cai Xiaofeng, deputy director of the Civil Aviation Administration of China, at the second "Air Silk Road" Aviation Cooperation Summit on Tuesday.

Cai added that China's civil aviation has accelerated the pace of production and transportation, and the daily number of passengers has recovered at nearly 80% of the same period last year.

At the beginning of this year, China's civil aviation took timely actions to battle COVID-19, aiming to protect the safety of passengers and personnel. Specifically, policies on fiscal taxation and finance, and the approval of a "green channel" for international cargo transport played an essential role in helping the aviation industry.

China has signed bilateral intergovernmental air transport agreements with 96 countries and regions that have joined the Belt and Road Initiative. Amid the pandemic, China has still maintained regular passenger and cargo services with 45 countries and regions, and has delivered more than 1,700 tons of prevention supplies to 47 countries and regions.

Cai said that with 1,068 weekly cargo flights, which is 2.6 times the number before COVID-19, between China and the Belt and Road countries and regions, China strives to build a safe, fast and efficient bridge for Belt and Road cooperation.
