4 percent

China’s aggregate education investment in 2017 reached 4,255.7 billion yuan, according to newly released reports from the Ministry of Education.

The ratio between the national fiscal investment and the GDP last year sustained above the targeted 4 percent for six consecutive years, representing China’s booming education level.

For the past decade, China has stepped up its efforts to shrink the education gap with developed nations. It also tilts the balance towards rural areas and basic education with more financial support, in a bid to lift the overall education level.
