East China’s Jiangsu Province will be fully classified as low-risk for COVID-19 starting Thursday, after the last medium-risk area was cleared in Yangzhou city, local health officials said.
The city resumed public transportation and taxi service in the main urban area on Thursday, and will allow inbound and outbound travel on September 16.
Yangzhou city became a hotspot for COVID-19 after a recent resurgence at the Nanjing Lukou International Airport. With several rounds of citywide nucleic acid tests and other control measures, the city has put the wave of infections under control and reported zero cases for the first time on August 23 since it detected a confirmed case imported from Nanjing on July 27.
