BEIJING, Jan. 4 (Xinhua) -- China's box office revenues totaled nearly 1.3 billion yuan (about 198.75 million U.S. dollars) during the three-day New Year holiday from Jan. 1 to Jan. 3, setting a new domestic record for the period, according to statistics released by the China Film Administration on Monday.
This year has broken the 2018 record of 1.27 billion yuan, said the administration. Daily box office revenues on Jan. 1 totaled 601 million yuan, surpassing the 368 million yuan New Year's Day record set in 2018.
The daily box office on Jan. 1 registered year-on-year growth of about 107 percent, according to the administration.
"A Little Red Flower," a box office hit for the New Year holiday, has grossed 759 million yuan since its release on Dec. 31, 2020. The feature film tells the heart-warming story of two families as they fight against cancer.
