China's railways transport nearly 28,000 tonnes of epidemic control supplies

China's railways transported 27,992 tonnes of supplies for prevention and control of the novel coronavirus outbreak by Tuesday evening, according to the China State Railway Group Co., Ltd.

The amount of the supplies stood at 110,582 pieces, including 7,325 packs of masks, 11,733 drugs and diagnostic reagents, 6,132 pieces of equipment and 8,178 life supply items as of 6:00 p.m. Tuesday.

Passenger trips dropped 89 percent year on year to 1.24 million on Tuesday, and 1.35 million trips are expected on Wednesday, down 88 percent year on year, the company said.

As of Tuesday, 482 passengers were reported to have fever symptoms, it said.

All railway stations will continue to carry out temperature measurement for passengers entering and leaving the stations, and passengers are asked to wear masks and cooperate with railway departments when taking railway transport.
