China's strongest earthquake-resistant bridge to be completed this year

The cross-sea bridge will cut the trip from Wenchang City to Haikou City from 90 minutes to about 20 minutes.

Spanning a geological fault line, it’s being built to the highest standard of earthquake resistance at an investment of 3.01 billion yuan ($440 million).

The 5.6-km-long bridge is expected to promote economic growth in the northern part of Hainan Province.
