The Yellow River, China's second-longest river, has seen its third flood of the year due to continuous rainfall, the Ministry of Water Resources said on Wednesday.

After recent heavy rains, the amount of water flowing per second at the Tongguan hydrologic station on the river in northwest China's Shaanxi Province increased to 5,090 cubic meters as of 11 p.m. on Tuesday, according to the ministry.

The ministry has maintained a level-three emergency response, the second-lowest level, and has asked local flood prevention authorities along the river's middle and lower reaches to enhance their patrols of flood control projects.

The ministry has sent seven working groups to the provinces of Shanxi, Shaanxi, Henan and Shandong to aid flood prevention and control efforts there.
