China sends 21,618 medics to virus-hit Hubei Province

Heath authorities in Central China's Hubei Province said on Tuesday that 12 medical teams from other parts of the country, consisting of 1,493 medics, have arrived in the province to help fight the outbreak of novel coronavirus pneumonia.

So far, Hubei Province has received a total of 178 medical teams and 21,618 medics from 29 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, as well as government departments like the National Health Commission and the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Also, the Red Cross Society of China.

Among them are 185 medics from Chongqing Municipality, who are paired with Xiaogan city in Hubei. Han Anqiang, a doctor from Chongqing, could not hold back his excitement and said in front of the camera, "Xiaogan, here we are! Xiaogan Jiayou! Wuhan Jiayou! Zhongguo Jiayou!"

Xie Jianwen, the deputy commander of the medical team from Jiangxi Province, said that his team has 143 members and is paired with Suizhou city. "As long as we are united, we will eventually defeat the epidemic," said Xie.
