SHANGHAI - Steel futures closed higher Tuesday in daytime trading on the Shanghai Futures Exchange.

The most active construction steel rebar contract for October delivery was up 19 yuan ($2.7) to close at 3,634 yuan a ton.

The most active October contract for hot rolled coils, mainly used in cars and appliances, was up 29 yuan to close at 3,629 yuan a ton.
