The Chinese Foreign Ministry on Monday levied restrictive measures on six US media outlets after the US listed six more Chinese media outlets as "foreign missions".

In a statement, the ministry said the China-based branches of the American Broadcasting Corporation, the Los Angeles Times, Minnesota Public Radio, the Bureau of National Affairs, Newsweek and Feature Story News shall declare in written form information about their staff, finances, operations and real estate in China within seven days.

China is compelled to take these measures in response to the unreasonable oppression that Chinese media organizations experience in the US, said the statement, warning of more countermeasures if necessary.
