Beijing-China will speed up the legislative process and pass the draft Foreign Investment Law as soon as possible, said a delegate to the ongoing 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China.

When answering questions from the press at the "Delegates Corridor", Jiang Chenghua, an official of the Ministry of Commerce, said the Ministry of Commerce has drafted the bill and has solicited public comments, which has aroused widespread interest at home and abroad.

Chinese President Xi Jinping said in the report to the 19th CPC Congress that China will adopt policies to promote high-standard liberalization and facilitation of trade and investment, implement the system of pre-establishment national treatment plus a negative list across the board, and protect the legitimate rights and interests of foreign investors. Xi added that all businesses registered in China will be treated equally.

Some companies said the Chinese government has indeed implemented an open policy in some areas in recent years, but these companies believe that, in general, China's openness is still not wide enough, added Jiang.
