China has decided to impose reciprocal visa restrictions on some US officials, a spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Thursday.

Wang Wenbin made the announcement in response to US Secretary of State Blinken's statement that the US to impose visa restrictions on Chinese officials for so-called human rights violations.

Wang pointed out that the US fabricated vile lies on the pretext of the so-called human rights issue to interfere in China's internal affairs, smear China and suppress Chinese officials.

"These acts have no moral baseline and seriously violate international law and basic norms of international relations. China is firmly opposed to this," said Wang.

"In order to safeguard China's sovereignty, security and development interests and protect our legitimate rights and interests of Chinese nationals, in accordance with the Anti-Foreign Sanctions Law, China has decided to impose reciprocal visa restrictions on US officials who fabricate lies on China-related human rights issues, push for the introduction of sanctions against China and harm China's interests," he said.
