China to impose tariffs on $60 billion worth of US goods

China has announced it will impose tariffs on $60 billion worth of imported products originating in the US. The tariff will be effective starting 12:01 pm Beijing time, September 24, according to a notice from the Customs Tariff Commission of the State Council.

The tariff package will impose a 10 percent tariff on 3,571 items, and a 5 percent tariff on 1,636 items.

China also filed a complaint to the World Trade Organization against the United States’ planned import tariffs on $200 billion worth of goods imported from China, a post on the Ministry of Commerce’s website said Tuesday.
