A Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson on Wednesday said that China will take effective countermeasures against the wrong decision and behaviour of the U.S. side to firmly safeguard its own sovereignty, security and development interests.

On Wednesday, Chinese authorities including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs have expressed strong indignation and firm opposition to the U.S. House of Representatives’ approval of the so-called Hong Kong Human Rights and Democracy Act, spokesman Geng Shuang said at a daily press briefing.
