BEIJING, Nov. 6 (Xinhua) -- China will work to uphold and improve the system that promotes the prosperity and development of advanced socialist culture and consolidate the common ideological foundation upon which all people are united and work together, according to a decision of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee.

The decision on some major issues concerning how to uphold and improve the system of socialism with Chinese characteristics and advance the modernization of China's system and capacity for governance was adopted at the fourth plenary session of the 19th CPC Central Committee on Oct. 31.

It stressed the following:

-- upholding the fundamental system of taking Marxism as a guiding ideology.

-- sticking to the system of leading cultural advancement with core socialist values;

-- improving institutions for safeguarding people's cultural rights and interests;

-- improving the working mechanism for maintaining the right tone in public communication;

-- putting in place systems and mechanisms of cultural creation and production that put social benefits first and ensure both economic returns and social benefits.
