The General Administration of Customs (GAC) has issued a relevant notice, Geng said, when asked about China customs again suspending the clearance of canola imports from a Canadian company.

The measures taken by the Chinese customs are for the sake of quarantine safety and prevention, Geng said. They are scientific and reasonable and fully conform to relevant Chinese laws and regulations as well as international practice.

The GAC has already notified the Canadian side of the situation, and continues to communicate with the Canadian side on the technical level, Geng added.

China hopes that Canada and China will work together to move China-Canada relations forward in a healthy and stable way. China hopes Canada would take practical measures to correct its previous mistakes.
