The embassy has lodged solemn representations after senior US officials met with "Taiwan's representative to the US Bi-khim Hsiao, and Hsu Yen-pu, Taiwan's "Army Commander,” was invited to visit the US.
“Any words or actions that challenge the one-China principle and China's core interests will be met with firm responses from China,” read a statement published on the official website of China’s Embassy in the US. “The US should not fantasize seeking China's support and cooperation while wantonly challenging China's red line on the Taiwan question.”
“No one shall underestimate the Chinese people's strong resolve, will and ability to safeguard national sovereignty and territorial integrity,” said the spokesperson. “We urge the US to take real action to follow through on the spirit of the phone call between the two heads of state, honor its commitments, and create conditions for China-US relations to return to the track of healthy and stable development.”
