China urged the US to immediately correct its behavior, Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi said in a meeting with US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo in Beijing.

China and the US should adhere to win-win cooperation, and should not fall into conflict and confrontation, Wang said.

The US has made several unfounded accusations against China's domestic and foreign policies in the past few days, impacting mutual trust between the two countries, the minister said.

"We demand that the US immediately stop its unwarranted accusations and wrongdoings against China," Wang said.

As the US wants to communicate with China on some hotspot issues like the Korean Peninsula issue, Wang said that the two countries, also the two permanent members of the United Nations Security Council, should strengthen communications and take international responsibility.

This kind of cooperation should be rooted by healthy and and steady bilateral ties, Wang said.
