China urges US to stop groundless accusations, interfering in China's domestic affairs, said Lu Kang, the spokesperson of China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), at the Regular Press Conference on October 9th.

“China always follows the principle of non-interference in others’ internal affairs, and China has no interest in interfering in US internal affairs and the elections,” Lu said. “As for the claim that China’s increased tariffs seeks to influence US midterm elections, China-US trade frictions were started by the US side, and China is just reacting appropriately. This is justifiable defense against US actions.”

The US claimed that Chinese media bought space on US media to interfere in US internal affairs, but the fact is it’s legal and normal cooperation between media of the two countries, which is being done by many other foreign media, Lu added. “It is far-fetched to describe the normal communication and cooperation between China and US as China’s interference in US internal affairs and midterm elections,” he said.
