Tan Kefei, spokesperson for the Ministry of National Defense, made the remarks in response to a so-called "political and military dialogue" held between the United States and the Taiwan authorities via video link on Thursday.

China strongly condemns the U.S. act that is in serious violation of the one-China principle and the three China-U.S. joint communiques, Tan said, adding that the Chinese side has lodged stern representations with the U.S. side.
The Taiwan question is China's internal affair, bears on China's sovereignty and territorial integrity, involves China's core interests, and brooks no foreign interference, Tan said, adding that "we urge the United States to immediately stop any form of official exchange and military ties with Taiwan."
Tan said that the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA), with its firm resolve and strong ability, will thwart any form of interference by external forces and attempts by "Taiwan independence" secessionist forces.
The PLA will firmly defend national sovereignty and territorial integrity, and safeguard peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait, he added.
