China and the US continued their trade negotiations on phone Friday at vice-ministerial level, said a spokesperson of Chinese Ministry of Commerce in a statement released on Sunday.

The two sides exchanged views on balancing trade and intellectual property rights and other issues of common interest and concern, said the statement, adding that new progress has been made.

Both sides also talked about possible call and visit in the future. 

Friday's vice-ministerial level trade discussions between Beijing and Washington are the second such contact in less than a week following talks on Wednesday.
