BEIJING, Sept. 25 (Xinhua) -- Chinese State Councilor Zhao Kezhi met with James Carroll, director of the US Office of National Drug Control Policy, Wednesday in Beijing.

Zhao, also chief of the National Narcotics Control Commission, said the healthy and stable development of China-US relations is in the fundamental interests of the two peoples.

China and the United States should enhance understanding, trust and communication to build a community with a shared future for mankind and carry out drug control cooperation, said Zhao, adding that he hopes that the two countries could continue to deepen practical cooperation in drug control, push forward the governance of fentanyl and bring more benefits to the two countries and the world.

Carroll thanked China for the class scheduling of fentanyl-related substances and expressed willingness to strengthen pragmatic cooperation in the field of drug control.
