The Commission for Political and Legal Affairs of the Communist Party of China Central Committee has sent a team to Shandong Province to launch a comprehensive investigation into the outbreak of novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) at Rencheng Prison of the province.

The task force, led by Lei Dongsheng, vice secretary-general of the commission, consists of officials from the commission, the Supreme People's Procuratorate, the Ministry of Public Security and the Ministry of Justice.
