A spokesperson for the Chinese Embassy in Britain hit back on Tuesday at comments by British Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab that accused Beijing of the so-called human rights abuses against the Uygurs, claiming that the remarks are totally lies.

The embassy's spokesperson said that in recent years, Xinjiang's counterterrorism and deradicalization efforts have effectively contained the trend of frequent violent and terrorist activities, and protected local people of all ethnic groups to the maximum extent from terrorism and extremism.

If the UK takes sanctions against Chinese institutions or personnel in disregard of facts, China will resolutely respond and the UK will bear all the consequences arising therefrom, added the spokesperson.
