China applauds Iran's faithful implementation of the nuclear deal officially known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi said during a meeting with his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif in Beijing on Monday.

Wang told Zarif that China understands Iran's legitimate nuclear demands and that the country's compliance with the deal should be recognized.

China supports any efforts in upholding the JCPOA and will continue to fully commit to the agreement as a responsible country, the minister stressed while vowing to play a constructive role in seeking to defuse tensions in the Gulf region.
