China's current heatwave is set to subside as heavy rain will fall in northern, southwestern, and northeastern parts of the country in the next 10 days, according to the China Meteorological Administration.

Strong convective weather will come to these areas from Aug 3-12, with 100-180 millimetres of rain expected in Sichuan province, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region and Yunnan province.

The total rainfall in most of these areas will increase about three-to-six percent compared with previous years.

The number of areas in Eastern China hit with high temperatures will reduce in the next 10 days, while lower temperatures are forecast in the areas still experiencing the heatwave.

A number of areas along the Yangtze and Huaihe Rivers will however continue to record high temperatures for a certain period, the administration said.

It is expected that August's high precipitation and temperatures in central and southern parts of Northeast China will benefit autumn harvest crops.  

The administration suggested that since it will be the key stage for these crops, farmers should perform well in irrigation, fertilization, cultivating and weeding.

Areas characterized by excessive precipitation such as Heilongjiang province should pay attention to drainage and dehumidification and reduce the impact of farmland waterlogging disasters.
