The Chinese mainland reported 141 new confirmed COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, including 112 domestically transmitted and 29 imported, data from the National Health Commission showed on Wednesday.

The Chinese mainland also reported 286 asymptomatic infections on Tuesday, including 241 locally transmitted and 45 imported, the National Health Commission said.

There were 724 active cases on the Chinese mainland as of Tuesday.

Tuesday also saw 27 COVID-19 patients discharged from hospitals, the commission added.

The total number of confirmed cases on the Chinese mainland stood at 226,176 and the death toll stood at 5,226.
