Chinese mainland reports 16 new confirmed COVID-19 cases

The Chinese mainland reported 16 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, all of which were imported cases, the National Health Commission said on Wednesday.

Of new imported cases, eight were detected in Guangdong, three in Shanghai, and one each in Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Shandong, Sichuan and Shaanxi. There were 279 active imported cases as of Tuesday, the commission said in its daily report.

No new deaths related to COVID-19 were reported on Tuesday, the commission said.

Totally 11 new asymptomatic cases were recorded, while 319 asymptomatic patients are under medical observation.

The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases on the Chinese mainland stands at 90,799, with the death toll unchanged at 4,636.
