Chinese mainland reports 16 new confirmed COVID-19 cases

The Chinese mainland on Friday reported 16 newly confirmed COVID-19 cases, 2 locally transmitted and 14 imported, the National Health Commission said Saturday.

The locally transmitted cases were reported in Guangdong Province, the commission said in its daily report.

Of the imported cases, seven were reported in Shanghai, two each in Sichuan and Shaanxi, one each in Zhejiang, Fujian, Guangdong.

There were 293 active imported cases as of Friday. No deaths related to the disease were reported, while 14 COVID-19 patients were discharged from hospitals.

The total number of confirmed cases on the Chinese mainland stood at 91,061, with the death toll unchanged at 4,636.
