Chinese mainland reports 162 new local COVID-19 cases, 248 local asymptomatic infections

The Chinese mainland reported 222 new confirmed COVID-19 cases on Thursday, including 162 domestically transmitted and 60 imported, data from the National Health Commission showed on Friday.

The Chinese mainland also reported 317 asymptomatic infections on Thursday, including 248 locally transmitted and 69 imported, the National Health Commission said.

There were 1,623 active cases on the Chinese mainland as of Thursday, with one in critical condition.

Thursday also saw 147 COVID-19 patients discharged from hospitals, the commission added.

The total number of confirmed cases on the Chinese mainland stood at 230,135 and the death toll stood at 5,226.
