Chinese mainland reports 17 new confirmed COVID-19 cases, with 4 locally transmitted

The Chinese mainland on Saturday reported 17 newly confirmed COVID-19 cases, including four locally transmitted cases and 13 arriving from outside the mainland, the National Health Commission said Sunday.

Among the imported cases, three each were reported in Shanghai and Guangdong, two each in Yunnan and Jiangsu, and one each in Beijing, Tianjin, and Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, the commission said in its daily report.

Among the local cases, three were reported in Liaoning and one in Yunnan, the commission said.

There were 1,098 active cases on Chinese mainland as of Saturday, with 12 in critical conditions. No deaths related to the disease were reported, while 77 COVID-19 patients were discharged from hospitals.

The total number of confirmed cases on the Chinese mainland stood at 98,467, with the death toll unchanged at 4,636.
