Chinese mainland reports 181 new local COVID-19 cases, 951 asymptomatic infections

The Chinese mainland reported 201 new confirmed COVID-19 cases on Friday, including 181 domestically transmitted and 20 imported, the National Health Commission said in its daily report on Saturday.

The Chinese mainland also reported 1010 asymptomatic infections, including 951 locally transmitted and 59 imported on Friday, the National Health Commission said.

One new death was reported on Friday in Shanghai. The city reported 84 new local confirmed cases and 784 local asymptomatic infections.

There were 4,715 active cases on the Chinese mainland as of Friday, with 292 in critical condition.

Friday also saw 391 COVID-19 patients discharged from hospitals, the commission said.

The total number of confirmed cases on the Chinese mainland stood at 222,976, and the death toll stood at 5,219.
