Chinese mainland reports 19 new confirmed COVID-19 cases (8 in Xinjiang), 20 new asymptomatic cases

The Chinese mainland registered 19 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, of which eight were domestically transmitted and 11 were imported, the National Health Commission said on Thursday.

The domestically transmitted cases were all reported in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, the National Health Commission said in its daily report.

Also on Wednesday, 20 asymptomatic cases were reported on the mainland. And a total of 295 asymptomatic patients are under medical observation.

There were 724 active cases, including 41 in critical condition on Chinese mainland as of Wednesday, with four suspected cases. No deaths related to the disease were reported, while 56 COVID-19 patients were discharged from hospitals.

The total number of confirmed cases on the Chinese mainland stands at 84,756 and the cumulative death toll is at 4,634.
